Branches of Pharmacy
The profession and study of pharmacy is divided into three branches mainly, The first one is called Pharmaceutics, The second is known as Medicinal Chemistry and the third branch is called Pharmacy practice. There are clear cut and defined boundaries between all three branches and the roles professionals have to play within each of their branch of expertise. The chemists around the world have to keep them updated with the methods of patient care and they must have knowledge of organic chemistry and subjects like chemical biology as well to serve in the industry as solid professionals.
Pharmacology is also considered a branch of Pharmacy, and is related to the study of pharmacy.According to WHO, there are almost 2.6 million pharmacists worldwide operating in different skill levels.
